  • EERI Photo Upload Tool (for non-geotagged photos)
ideal for post-processing photos from your desktop
  • EERI Batch Photo Upload Tool (for geotagged photos)
ideal for post-processing and annotating large quantities of photos from your desktop
  • Clearinghouse Fieldnotes Tool (for Geo-tagged Photos with Field Data Collection Tool)
ideal for field data collection and photo documentation using a web-enabled phone
  • Upload Observation or Information Blog Posts
  • Contact EERI Staff with other ideas

Now that the physical clearinghouse is closed, contact alex@eeri.org with any additional data.

Materials on this site and on the data maps may be used with proper attribution (CA EQ Clearinghouse/Name of Individual or Organizational Contributor) for non-commercial uses. Questions, contact EERI at eeri@eeri.org.

EERI Photo Upload Tool (for non-geotagged photos)

EERI has two option for adding data when you return from the field on your desktop computer. The first of these, EERI’s Photo Upload Tool (for non-geotagged photos), allows you to geo-locate your photos and add them to the clearinghouse via the map interface below.

EERI Batch Photo Upload Tool (for geotagged photos)

EERI has two option for adding data when you return from the field on your desktop computer. The second of these, EERI’s Batch Photo Upload Tool (for geotagged photos), allows you to post-process and annotate large quantities of photos from your desktop.

These instructions are a guide to upload a batch of photos using the ERRI Batch Photo Upload Tool for geo-tagged photos. These photos will be uploaded to the EERI Interactive Earthquake Photo Map, as well as the Earthquake Clearinghouse ArcGIS Online Data Map. To use this tool, photos must be geotagged, or latitude/longitude locations must be known.

Clearinghouse Fieldnotes Tool (for Geo-tagged Photos with Field Data Collection Tool)

The Clearinghouse Fieldnotes Tool (for Geo-tagged Photos with Field Data Collection Tool) is a web-application that facilitates field data collection and photo documentation using a web-enabled phone.

    • Use a smart phone to collect data and photos in the field! Click the link above and use your smartphone to fill out forms on the topics listed.
    • Don’t forget to enter your email address to access the topic forms. Also make sure to take the picture on your phone first, and then attach it using the upload picture button. If you use the “take photo” button you run the risk of losing the raw photo if it does load or submit properly.
    • Once you press record, make sure to wait for the app interface to show “uploaded picture successfully” (at the bottom with a green check mark) before going back to the home screen to upload more points/photos.
    • Watch the following video to get a comprehensive overview of how to use the collection tool:

Upload Observation or Information Blog Posts

These observations will appear as “recent posts” in the menus on the right.
Note:  If you do not already have a login to the website, you’ll need to contact EERI Clearinghouse staff to request one.
