There are reports that a two-story confined masonry dormitory at a school for visually impaired students, constructed in 2012, has performed well in the earthquake. The dormitory is located in Bhandar Dhik, approximately 67 km form the epicenter. The project was the first application of confined masonry technology for the NGO Smart Shelter Foundation (www.smartshelterfoundation.org) which designed and constructed the building with assistance from the Confined Masonry Network.
