Welcome to the Chile Earthquake Clearinghouse Website
On September 16, 2015, an M8.3 earthquake struck 46km W of Illapel, Chile leading to the release of tsunami alerts across the Pacific Ocean. EERI is responding as part of its Learning from Earthquakes Program (LFE) by launching this virtual clearinghouse site and contacting many EERI members and colleagues in Chile for information and observations.
We are currently seeking EERI members and other volunteers to serve as Clearinghouse Curators who gathering and compile information from media reports, information from earthquake professionals in the field, or relevant technical literature, then compile this information into summary posts for specific topic areas. More information about the role of Curators and other ways that you can participate in EERI’s response, can be found at the How to Contribute page.
Any questions regarding EERI’s response to this earthquake can be directed to: Heidi Tremayne, EERI Program Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org.
More information about ground motions and shaking intensities can be found at the USGS website.
