Welcome to the Puebla, Mexico Earthquake Clearinghouse

Check back often, as new resources are being added continuously.

On September 19,2017, a M7.1 earthquake struck Central Mexico at 18:14:39 UTC. (Details from the USGS Event page.) The EERI community extends its sympathy to the victims as rescue and relief work continues.

EERI is currently monitoring the situation using media reports and notes from colleagues in Puebla, Mexico, and surrounding areas as part of its Learning from Earthquakes Program (LFE).

In the preliminary data collection phase, our most urgent need is for EERI members and other volunteers to serve as Clearinghouse Curators who gather and compile information from media reports, information from earthquake professionals with field reports, or relevant technical literature, and then compile this information into summary posts for specific topic areas. More information about the role of Curators and other ways that you can participate in EERI’s response, can be found at the How to Contribute page.

Any questions regarding EERI’s response to this earthquake can be directed to: Maggie Ortiz-Millan, EERI Program Manager at eqclearinghouse@eeri.org.
