Golden Guardian Exercise
This page illustrates how the blog will work in the event of an earthquake. It is being tested here as part of the November 2008 Golden Guardian Exercise.
In the early hours after an event, the Clearinghouse Management Group will post a summary paragraph on this website. This paragraph will describe the situation, and provide a few basic links. Field investigators can then come to this site (they must register first) and either POST a new observation or click on the word comment (next to the heading for each post) and offer comments on existing posts. For the Golden Guardina Exercise, posts will be logged under a heading near the top left called Golden Guardian. As the event unfolds, posts will be likely be written for each of the many disciplines represented by field investigators. These posts will all be listed under the name of the event. The most recent posts display at the top of the site.
If you would like to upload images for the event (or exercise) click here to go to EERI’s Google Maps page. Select Southern CA Golden Guardian as the event, and log in using user name: golden and password: guardian. You can upload up to 5 photos at a time. (Please note: this system has some limitations and we hope to have a more robust alternative in place before the next earthquake.)
To post an observation or to make a comment, you must be registered at the site. You can register by clicking on the register button at the bottom right, or you will be prompted to register if you try and make a comment.
When you enter the site with your registered name and password you will be taken to the backend of the site where you can write a post. Follow these instructions: instructions-for-writing-a-post
